Common dolphin project 1 March 2009

Summer is notoriously busy for marine mammal strandings along our coastline. However, New Zealand Geographic Trust funding recipient Dr Karen Stockin reports that the numbers of common dolphins that have stranded or been washed ashore as dead beachcasts is noticeably less than that of previous summers. She and the team at Massey University’s Coastal-Marine Research Group are now researching why this is the case. - Appears in New Zealand Geographic Issue 96.
