New Zealand Geographic Trust is thrilled to offer its supporters the opportunity to attend a two-day workshop with one of this country’s most adventurous travel writers, Derek Grzelewski, who has contributed more than 40 stories to New Zealand Geographic.

For the past 15 years Derek has roamed the world, climbing mountains, abseiling and scuba diving, tracking crocodiles and jaguars, and trekking with camels. He has stayed in tribal huts where two stones and a pot were the only furniture, and in royal quarters where he says “you could get lost looking for the wine cabinet”. His stories have also appeared in National Geographic Traveler, Smithsonian, Reader’s Digest, Australian Geographic and many other prestigious magazines.

Now aspiring travel writers can learn first-hand how to create and pitch stories from someone who has plenty of hard-earned tips and real-life lessons to share, gathered from years of unusual experiences.
