New Zealand Geographic was heralded as a star performer at Friday night’s Qantas Media Awards.

Taking home awards for:

  • Best magazine cover
  • The Te Puni Kokiri Award for Maori issues
    - for writer/photographer Aaron Smale's Ta Moko feature
  • and a finalist in Best News-stand Magazine

New Zealand Geographic congratulates its contributors who won awards for their work published elsewhere;

  • Deputy Editor, Margo White – for her story ‘About face’ in North & South
  • Photographer, Richard Robinson for work published in The New Zealand Herald

The Qantas Media awards follow a Pride in Print commendation won earlier this month.

“We are a small team dedicated to producing a magazine with the highest production values,” says editor, James Frankham. “Our vision is to bring all that is extraordinary about New Zealand’s natural and cultural environment to the people in a manner that does it justice.”

“We know our readers have appreciated the improvements we’ve implemented over the past 18 months, with outstanding circulation growth of 15% year on year. To be also recognised by our peers at such a high level is another wonderful endorsement for our team.”
